Personality: Dark is an intelligent colt whose mind is always working and when you look him in the eye you can almost feel him evaluating you. He's calculating, smart, and never really raises a fuss. Certainly, he is one of the quietest colts on the farm. This unassuming colt, however, holds a great deal of power and even though he isn't much to look at he is able to deal with things you would never believe.

Dark can be difficult to understand. He is complex and thoughtful, something which shows on the track. He likes to hang back, holding up the back of the field for the majority of the race until he makes his move in the stretch. By this time, he tends to have the field sussed and will mark himself a strong opponent upon which to set his sights on.

Though usually somewhat calm this colt does have a very fiery, competitive streak. It is difficult to bring out, but once shown can also be difficult to quench. If he marks himself a rival, or feels the pressure from bigger races, he will respond by throwing himself into beating that rival or winning that race. At times like this he can achieve truly unbelievable things.

Dark can be affected by track conditions at times, running best on firm ground.

History: Little is known about Dark's history, short of the fact that he was raced before his spell in the economy stables. He caught the eye of Jacob Donovan at a sale and as such was purchased. He has now rode a number of times under his new jockey and they seem to have bonded well. He has formed a rivalry with filly, Afterglow and finds himself determined to beat her.

Y10 January Week 2 - Kirsten - Nice colt. He doesn't really stand out to me. He needs something added to his personality. Work with him more.

Y10 May Week 2 - Snowflake - I love how you have made him so believeable. He is also the most experienced horse in the field, in terms of races and workouts. Congrats.

Y10 - August Week 3 - Gelli Aur - Was just little inexperinced in his new Grade. The other horses were lot more experinced and the field was really fast.

Y10 - October Week 1 - Sunfrost - It's obvious that a lot, a lot of people worked their horses hard for this race. The two above Dark Charmer also worked really hard. However, Flashabelle had the additional advantage of age, as she's three. Devil's Crusade has been getting up in the top three consistently. It was a real showdown between him and Dark Charmer. I think these two could easily become top rivals with each other, actually. They really duked it out. It was close. Good job with him!

Y10 - November Week 1 - Gelli Aur - Put one good fight but just lost it by a nose by Sunset. He made a slight mistake with his final move with the turn, which almost caused him to fall. This is something he surely wouldn't be making again.

Y11 - January Week 1 - Winter ;x - Boy he put on quite a show! He stuck with the front of the pack most of the way, but Euphorion's speed just got the head of Dark's neck.

Stable Notes

Dark has settled in well and seems to be comfortable here at Silver Stride Stables. The bond he shares with his jockey, Jacob Donvan, is great and we expect great things from him. Since coming to us he seems to have found a great desire to win and fights in every race he has entered.
In his two year old season Dark won the Winter Cup Grade Five Dirt and the Just A Trot Futurity, which is the first round of the youth challenge series. He also went on to place in the Gallop To the Gallows Stakes, which is the second round of the youth challenge series. Furthermore, this colt managed to show in the Autumn Cup Grade Five Dirt in only his second race for the stable. We sent Dark to the Breeder's Cup Juvenile in his first season of active racing and he performed well, coming in third against tough competition.
Dark is involved in a breeding exchange, and so Sunfrost has a breeding reserve on him.
