Flawed Princess & Jacob Donovan They could take the win, of that Jacob was sure. His confidence in the bay filly had only grown in their last race when they took first and he had every intention of pulling the girl to the heights of success. It would not be the first time it had happened, they had seen it in several of the big horses the previous year, and this filly had the spark to make it. Her breeding was not unimpressive, she was from grade one parents and with the work, time and effort she deserved she would be able to pull up her grade to become worthy of her parent's names. Yes, Jacob was convinced he could pull her up to the standard he hoped she could reach. As they reached the track it was obvious it would be another good workout. Her energy levels were high, as was her focus. Already her gazee was fixed on the post at the end of the track and when he placed his hand on her flank he could feel her muscle twitching in anticipation. Yes, there was something about the track which filled the normally temperamental filly with fire and need. She had been a cow to handle walking down but now she was calmed, waiting for her jockey to mount so they could get started already. Hell, it was almost as if she was as determined as her jockey to become something to be proud of. Once Jacob had mounted the handlers led the filly to the gates and she boxed well, her hooves scratching at the turf underfoot impatiently, almost as if she were asking what they were playing at. She tossed her head, her tassel cracked against her rump and when the gates opened the darted out at a high pace. In a real race this was where she would place herself behind a front runner but this was not a race, just a run, and there was no competition. As such the pace was high as her eyes set upon the post straight ahead of her. There was no need to cross to the rail, no need for maneuver except to run, straight forwards, the post in her sights. It was exactly what she did. She ran fast, but not her fastest, for most of the straight and when the crop cracked she moved faster, pushing harder. Strong legs moved at high pace beneath her, mane and tail flew behind her as she ran and Jacob rode. Perfectly in sync, aiming for the post, hoping for a win.
