Excitable, energetic, flighty. They were all words which could be used to describe one of the fillies at Silver Stride Stables. Head flung high, she moved through the pasture like a goddess. Her long, muscular legs moved in a three-beat as she cantered across the field, glad to be free. Behind her, her mane flew like a banner and it was obvious that this was what was natural to the filly. Sat on the fence, Jacob watched the latest filly to fall into his hands in her splendour. Her beauty was undeniable, the sparkle in her eyes showing a love of life an the world around her. He could really have sat and watched her like that all day for it truly was a wonderful sight but he knew that there was work to do and so slipped off of the fence, head collar gripped tightly in his hand.
"Hey Ellie baby, you having fun out here?" he asked as the filly moved past him. He felt a slight movement of air and he laughed. "Come on, Els, we have work to do and I've got no time to mess about today." the filly trotted over, nuzzled him lightly and flew off in the other direction again. So this was how it was going to be. Playful, energetic Ellie playing her games once more. "You can come back out here after work, you know what Matt and Alexia are like." he said as he managed to catch the filly, slipping on her head collar.
Once he got the filly in the yard he tacked her up, struggling as usual due to her refusal to stand still, and led her toward the track. Once there, he mounted and pushed the filly forwards. She gated well, fidgeted impatiently in the box and broke at an average rate when the gates finally opened. It took her a while to find her stride and, even then, she wasn't exactly fast. But there was a determination and her speed slowly increased throughout the workout until they rounded the final corner. Then the race really did kick in as the filly surged forwards, her speed increasing vastly as she soared down the straight. An incredible sight, an incredible filly, as she sped past the post.
